Back in April 2020, during the pandemic, our first runner Thierry noticed a long queue of people queuing up for a Food Bank session at a community centre. People without warm clothes, a mother with four children… what he saw broke his heart. The sight opened his eyes to the needs in his community and from that moment on he vowed to contribute to the Food Bank.
Ever since, Thierry has donated essential food items monthly, checking our most-needed items, researching best deals in supermarkets and enlisting the help of family and friends – overall supplying enough to feed thousand of families.
Extending his support to include a stretch at MK Can – our world-record breaking event in October – with his employer John Lewis and Partners, Thierry has now pledged to run both the Rocket 5k and the full marathon in support of MK Food Bank.
We are so excited to cheer such a fantastic supporter of ours on.

Annual Conference and Celebrations 2023
Here’s some lovely festive photos from our Annual Conference and celebration on the 28th November, saying thank you to our Volunteers and Charity supporters!
We held special awards from the Mayor of Milton Keynes for our Volunteers who have gone above and beyond to help MK Food Bank this year, and we celebrated highlights of 2023: His Majesty the King visiting MK Food Bank and of course MK Can!
16th October 2023
MK Food Bank, along with over 300 businesses, community organisations, churches and faith groups, charities schools, came together on a cold October day in Campbell Park and showed the power of community, creating the Longest Line of Food Cans ever, and earning themselves an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS TM title to prove it!
The continuous line started at the World Food Day pillar in the MK Rose, the city’s open-air commemorative circle, and meandered through Campbell Park in the centre of the city, culminating in a giant ‘MK’ spelt out in cans. The final count totalled 102,447 cans, smashing the previous record by well over double, and measuring an impressive 7.64km.
On the day itself the success of the event was clear – thousands of smiling faces, a party atmosphere from end to end and our hashtag #mkcan going viral, in our biggest example of organic marketing ever. And as well as an incredible community atmosphere, this event means we can continue to support thousands of families and individuals this winter.
